Steve Edwards - Retired Superintendent, Marion County Community Schools

Steve Edwards retired as Superintendent of Marion Community Schools.  He has 46 years of experience in public education. Prior to serving Marion Community Schools, Mr. Edwards served in several positions for Muncie Community Schools.  He served as an Assistant Superintendent-Instruction K-12, as Director of Adult and Community Education and Recreation, as District Coordinator of Athletic Programs, as a high school assistant principal, as a high school athletic director, and as a teacher and coach.

While serving as the Superintendent of Marion Community Schools, he directed the turnaround of the struggling school district.  The district became successful, made significant academic gains, and became financially stable.  He was instrumental in bridging the gap between the community and the schools by developing successful community outreach programs.

Most recently (2017-2018), Mr. Edwards served as the Emergency Manager for the AA Emergency Team selected by the Indiana Distressed Unit Appeal Board (DUAB) to guide Muncie Community Schools (MCS) through its financial difficulties as a State-designated financially distressed school district and as the MCS interim superintendent (2018-2019) in partnership with Ball State University.
