Connie Harper-Retired Teacher, Tippecanoe School Corporation

Connie most recently retired (May 2018) from teaching in the Tippecanoe School Corporation at Mintonye Elementary for 32 years.  She began her first teaching assignment at Frontier School Corporation in Brookston, IN under the leadership of Mr. Steve Wittenauer for 5 years.  Her colleagues still joke with her about teaching third grade for all of her teaching career.    During her teaching tenure, Connie worked on many corporation-wide adoption committees and served on numerous school-wide committees for Language Arts and Writing.  She mentored many student teachers, wrote book reviews for Purdue Press, served on numerous committees for the DOE and served as a committee member for the evaluation of the DOE's IRead. In 2015, Connie humbly received Teacher of the Year for Tippecanoe School Corporation and the Golden Apple Award in Tippecanoe County in 2018. Connie finds reward in helping to solve issues in the classroom.  She has experience with GEI Interventions, NWEA, and  teacher observations.  Currently, she is working with both Administrator Assistance and McGraw-Hill to make a state-wide difference in Indiana's classrooms. Connie resides in Lafayette, IN with her husband and three children. When she isn't working, she enjoys attending livestock shows, reading, swimming, and walking.
