STRATEGIC PLANNING

Plan the Next Chapter With Experienced Guidance

From board retreats and climate audits to feasibility studies and full strategic planning, our retired superintendents help you build a vision that survives leadership change and earns community trust.

Board Retreats

Get Your Board and Administrative Team Working From the Same Page

Our retreats are down to earth, practical, and modeled to fit your situation. Standard sessions cover the powers and duties of the board, superintendent, and building level administrators, the roles and responsibilities of the board as a unit and of individual members, responsibilities within the community and with staff members, the Open Door Law, the Code of Ethics, and the characteristics of a good board meeting. Tell us what you need and we will build the retreat around it. We also offer orientation sessions for new board members and corporation goal setting.

School Climate Audits

Understand the Health of Your Buildings Before You Act

A climate audit gives administrators an honest read on culture, which is especially useful for a leader who is new to a building or corporation. We meet with administration to define what you want to learn, review recent data, then build a timeline and an anonymous electronic survey covering curriculum, communication, facilities, and relationships, asking participants both what matters to them and whether it is present in their building. You decide which groups take part, from board and school personnel to community, parents, and students. Focus groups and observations in classrooms, hallways, and activities are available. Results are delivered to the schools, board, and community as a presentation, along with a written report for the corporation.

Feasibility Studies

Test a Major Decision Before Your District Commits to It

Decisions about the condition of buildings, reconfiguring grade levels across the corporation, reducing building sites, or changing academic offerings carry consequences your community will live with for years. Administrator Assistance has experience leading and facilitating feasibility studies that put reliable information in front of your board before the decision is made.

Strategic Planning

Build a Three to Five Year Plan That Survives Leadership Change

Our phased methodology produces a board aligned strategic plan with community validated priorities and a clear implementation roadmap. Over roughly six months we move through internal alignment, community validation, and finalization, collecting data through online and hard copy surveys of district staff and community members alongside a review of state and local academic, finance, and operations data. We meet with board members, district and building administrators, teachers, and staff, and present at up to two board readings. The standard deliverable is a fully editable Word document containing mission, vision, and core values, four to five strategic pillars tailored to your district, a plan review calendar, and district highlights with a historical milestone timeline. A premium option adds a designed, ready to publish PDF with graphic design, photos, and a printable one page overview. Three service tiers are available based on the depth of on site engagement you want.
